Initial Thoughts on Biden’s Re-Election Campaign

I was delighted to be interviewed by the Daily Express as part of their continuing coverage of the 2024 US Presidential Election.

As I note in the interview, Biden has largely been shielded from the press during his time in the White House, holding few press conferences and taking fewer questions from the media as a result. In 2020 he ran a campaign largely based in a studio due to the COVID pandemic. In 2024, however, any attempt to run a similar campaign, albeit based out of the White House, will raised serious questions about his health and capacity to serve a full, second term. The fear for Biden would be that the more people see of him the more they are going to realize how doddery he is. So far he looks assured of winning the Democratic Party nomination, but the longer the campaign goes on, the greater the risk that his age catches up with him.
